The company operates two lodges in this concession – The Main Lodge (16 beds) and The Villa (6 beds). There are a further 18 beds which may be built in due course.
The buildings and décor of The Lodge and Villa are styled in the old colonial theme and the two lodges have established the reputation as excellent multi-generational safari destinations.
The business operates under a unique long term concession on the Nyathi Concession Reserve. Commencing in May 2004, the Concession Contract entitles the Company to a 40 bed exclusive tenure of the private Nyathi Concession area of the Addo Elephant National Park for 75 years. Currently, 18 beds of the Concession Agreement remain unused.
The lodge offers luxury accommodation in the Main Lodge and Villa, spa facilities and private game drives. Home to an abundance of wildlife including elephant, lion, hyena, buffalo, black rhino and a variety of antelope and over 300 bird species, the lodge is an ideal malaria-free safari addition to a Garden Route holiday.
The 5-star, spacious and elegantly decorated suites offer a private patio with views of the surrounding landscapes and animals. All have air conditioning, a ceiling fan, flat-screen TV, coffee machine and a bathroom with separate bath and shower and complimentary toiletries
The Lodge has its own restaurant at the main lodge and serves contemporary and culinary cuisine. Room service and special diet menus can be requested. Drinks and snacks can be enjoyed at the bar. The lodge also hosts regular wine tasting and food pairing.
The spa offers a variety of massages and beauty treatments. Other facilities at the lodge include a shared lounge, a library, 3 outdoor pools with sun loungers, a games room and a kids’ club.
Guests can go on private game drives and guided walks with experienced guides. Other activities in the area include horse riding and bird watching.
The Lodge has a unique and very favourable arrangement with SANParks, where SANParks will ensure that the Nyathi Concession contains a viable “Big 5” population and will be responsible for all game management, conservation activities and infrastructure of the reserve.
The lodge has proven to generate very attractive operational profits which can be increased significantly by adding the 18 more rooms that are allowed as the fixed overheads remain the same and only variable expenses will then be incurred.
